Description:
The minuet originated in France, where it started as a dance for couples. The music is usually in ¾ time. The name was adapted from the Italian "minuetto" and the French "menuet" meaning slender or small, this in reference to the small steps in the dance.

This minuet for piano by the English baroque composer Henry Purcell, has an AABB structure, starting in a major key and then using a minor key in the B section. The piece has a graceful mood and the staccato should be delicate and light.
