Description:
The Ecossaise was a type of contra dance that was popular in the late 18th century and early 19th century; particularly in France and Great Britain.

The sections of an Ecossaise have significant dynamic contrast, with loud sections alternating with softer sections. The music usually revolves around a central tune, with variations that closely resembling the central tune. In this Ecossaise the A minor section is piano , while the C major section is forte.

Mauro Giuliani's life spanned the period when this dance was popular (1781-1829).
